The county was named after the city of Riverside which is the county seat. Some of the major cities in Riverside County are Beaumont, Canyon Lake, Corona, Hemet, Lake Elsinore, Menifee, Moreno Valley, Murrieta, Norco, Perris, San Jacinto and Temecula. Some of the unincorporated communities in the county are Murrieta Hot Springs and Sun City.
